"Illness is telling us what we need to stop doing. If we look at illness that way, then it has great value. It might be telling us that we need to modify our work habits, to rest, or to question what we are doing. It forces us to reach out for help, bringing more love to us." - O. Carl Simonton
The Five Element Difference
When you have physical pain or a cold, any acupuncturist can help you find relief. But when you simply don't feel like yourself or just feel “off”— and conventional medicine doesn't have a solution— Classical Five Element acupuncture shines. This traditional style is uniquely designed to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual layers of your health in addition to the physical ones.
My practice combines Five Element acupuncture with traditional Chinese herbs. By looking at how the 5 elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal) manifest in you, we can identify your primary constitutional element and how it shapes your strengths, stressors, and personality. Together, we will not only help you feel better physically, but help you understand your unique blueprint and how you navigate the world. This is the authentic, lineage-based care established by J.R. Worsley— offering deep, personalized healing that treats you as a whole person and not just a list of symptoms.
About Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs)
Qi (pronounced "chee") is the vital energy that animates us, flowing through the body along pathways called meridians. When this energy is abundant and moving smoothly, we feel healthy and vibrant. When Qi becomes blocked, weakened, or stagnant, physical or emotional symptoms arise. By placing fine needles at specific points along these meridians, acupuncture restores the smooth flow of energy. Rather than just masking symptoms, Chinese medicine addresses the underlying imbalances to support deep, lasting healing. As your body comes back into balance, you maximize your natural ability to heal. Clients frequently report that they get sick less often, recover faster from illness, and experience increased vitality. Over time, this holistic approach helps you become an active partner in your own wellness, often leading to richer, more harmonious relationships and an improved quality of life.
Your First Visit, Treatment & Progress
Your initial appointment includes a comprehensive review of your health concerns, history, blood pressure, and your first acupuncture treatment. I value your time, so I run an on-time office and focus on one patient at a time. To start, follow-up visits are typically scheduled once a week so we can closely monitor your progress and see how your body responds. As you begin to improve, we will gradually space your appointments further apart. Many clients transition to bi-weekly visits, while others maintain their health with a minimum of five sessions per year. For your convenience, I offer a full spectrum of diagnostic lab tests upon request. Please note that while these tests are highly useful, they do not replace an annual physical examination with your primary medical doctor or nurse practitioner.
Complimentary Care
Acupuncture integrates seamlessly with conventional medical care. You should continue taking all prescribed medications as directed by your doctor. Please bring your current medications and supplements to your first visit so I can check for contraindications to herbs. If needed, I am happy to collaborate directly with your physician to ensure you receive well-coordinated care.
